Weight Loss

One of the most common New Year's resolutions is to loose weight. How many times have you made that resolution only to make it again the following year?

Most people take up a diet and lose the weight they want, only to find it creeps back on again. Why?

What if I told you that your unconscious / subconscious mind has a set of values that control everything you do?

What if I told you that in some people (the majority of those who loose weight only to put it back on again) have a value that moves away from being overweight, instead of moves towards being your ideal weight?

Well it's true. When you loose weight, do you say to yourself "I'll never be that weight again!"

If so, then you are one of those who are moving away from being overweight, instead of moving towards your ideal weight.

You need to concentrate on what you want in your life, instead of what you don't want, or what you want to avoid. This is because thoughts are energy and the more you think about things, the more you create them in your life. So if you think about being your ideal weight, that's what you'll get. Whereas if you think about not being overweight, or think about losing weight, then you'll end up gaining the weight back again.

You have to re-program your mind and the results will follow. Unless you have a way to change what food means to you on an unconscious level, your automatic responses to food will stay the same and you'll go right back to your old ways of eating.

People are starting to realize that a diet alone isn't always enough, and are starting to look for ways to change their eating habits for good.

Do you realize that hypnosis was searched for on Overture US 75,000 times last month? Hypnosis can be used without side-effects to speed up your metabolism, help re-program your mind to want a more natural way of eating, help you reach for water instead of sodas when you're thirsty and help you stop craving junk food. Various NLP techniques can help you do similar things.

If you want to change your body, start by changing your mind!

Some other steps that can help you in your weight loss goals are to become more aware of how your body feels in response to various foods.

There are people who thrive on high protein /low carb diets and equally as many who have no results from it. There are people who thrive on high carb / low protein diets and again equally as many who have no results.

Everyone's body is different. We all look unique on the outside (unless you're an identical twin), so why would we think we looked identical on the inside? There has been research that shows a whole variety of different shapes for the same organs in a variety of people. So there's a good probability that they have slightly different functionality as well.

So listen to your body. What do you crave? When you eat various different foods, how do you respond? Do they make you tired and give you sugar cravings? Do they satisfy you? Do they make you hyper? Do you get abdominal bloating? Find out what ratio of protein and carbs puts you at your best. And remember the chances are that's what your body is asking you to put in it by giving you those cravings.

So perhaps start the year without restrictions, instead focus on only eating if you are genuinely hungry, not bored, not thirsty and not wanting to satisfy an emotional craving, but really truly hungry. Then eat! As soon as you notice you are full - stop eating! If that means you leave just one last bite on your plate, or half your plate full, that's fine.

If you remember your Mum going on about starving children in Ethiopia, India, Asia etc etc, whenever you left food, then ask yourself how you storing the excess food as fat is going to help those children!

So remember change your mind to change your body. Question your beliefs around food - do they actually make sense now? And listen to your body - it is the best person to tell you what you need to eat, so eat each meal and snack concentrating on what you're eating and how it's making you feel.
